Thumbnail Filmstrip of Liatris pycnostachya - Prairie Blazingstar Images
One of the finest Claybusters, Prairie Blazingstar is naturally found growing in moist areas in the wild, with foliage as lush and showy as the blooms. A Goldfinch favourite, it reaches up to five feet tall with the flowers opening first at the top of the spike in mid to late summer. Liatris pycnostachya is a great cut flower and holds its colour well in dried flower arrangements.
