Thumbnail Filmstrip of Polemonium reptans - Jacob's Ladder Images
Jacob's Ladder naturally occurs in rich, moist woods and alongside streams, typically forming a mound about 12" tall. It features lovely light blue, bell-shaped flowers, in loose clusters appearing in spring. Its attractive leaves are arranged like the rungs of a ladder (hence the common name). It is also juglone tolerant so you can grow it under Black Walnut and Hickory trees! Best grown in moist, rich, well-drained soil in part shade, Polemonium reptans is perfect for the spring shade garden!
