The unique, almost tropical, foliage of the majestic Silphium terebinthinaceum makes a statement that is all its own. Producing huge rounded leaves that resemble elephant's ears, Prairie Dock creates masses of bright yellow flowers are atop its five to ten foot tall stalks. Very long living, it prefers rich clay soils with good moisture but also does well in fertile, well drained land. Prairie Dock attracts honeybees and bumblebees and Goldfinches love to eat the seeds!
