Thumbnail Filmstrip of Dodecatheon meadia - Shooting Star Images
Dodecatheon meadia is one of the more unusual spring blooming wildflowers! Its pointed rocket-shaped flowers have dainty white to pink petals surrounding brown & yellow centres that bend backwards to look like a "Shooting Star". Pollinated by bees vibrating their bodies and shaking the pollen out of the flower. Grows well in moist to moderately dry, rich soil, in full sun or partial shade.
